Chapter 1 "The soldier is on friendlier terms than other men with his stomach and intestines." What does the author mean by this? Why do you think this is true? They were out there risking their lives for someone who wasn't paying them and gave them moldy scraps for food. We don't even notice our stomachs because they're always full. But the soldiers stomach is well known by it's body because It's constantly growling and begging for food.
